Head Freshman Coach/Stength and Conditioning:

Phil Genua
Coach Genua,  27, is entering his 3rd year on the
Charger staff, first as Head Freshman and 2nd as
Head Strength and Conditioning coach .  Originally
hailing from Waldorf, Maryland, Coach Genua was
a 2 sport star at Westlake High School lettering in
football as a cornerback, and baseball as a
center-fielder.  Coach Genua continued his
education at Towson university where he earned a
degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education for
grades K-12.
Coach Genua began his teaching career at J.C.
Parks from 2004-2006 before joining the Lackey
family is 2006.  Coach Lamb writes, "Coach Genua has done a phenomenal job with the winter and
spring workouts.  He instituted the "Iron Charger", award to the hardest working players in the weight
room along with innovative and cutting edge training techniques.   Coach Genua has been an
unbelievably resourceful and consistent asset to our program and his efforts are much appreciated
by our coaches and our players. The most impressive thing about Coach G is his tireless effort to mix
it up in the weight room and find new ways to get better results. The reason for our success the last
two years is a direct result of what Coach G does from January to August.  We would not be
successful without him."
When not coaching or teaching, Coach Genua enjoys fishing, jogging, and working out.  When not
cheering for the Chargers, Coach Genua can be found rooting for the Redskins.
