SMAC football recognize that Lackey High School possesses a strong tradition of excellence in
football.  I look forward to the challenge of continuing and improving upon this great tradition.”
Coach Kaple’s  goals as a coach are not  limited to the field.  He explains “I think the true measure
of a coach cannot be determined by wins and loses, or statistics.  The impact of a coach resides in
preparing young men to become adults, who are successful in life.  As a coach, I hope that my
players apply the lessons they learn through the game of football to become successful in life.  I
measure my success as a coach by the character my players demonstrate on and off the football
field.”

Coach Lamb writes, “Dan has done a tremendous job with the offense the past two seasons.  His
preparation for each practice and game is the reason we have been so successful.  What impresses
me most about Dan is his ability to get the most out of all of his players, regardless of their skill
level.  He is innovative and continues to be a student of the game.  Dan is a phenomenal teacher
who has a unique way to get his point across on the field and in the classroom.  Our players
respect him and look to him for guidance which shows what a tremendously positive impact he has
on their lives”

Coach Kaple currently resides in La Plata.  In his spare time, Coach Kaple enjoys seeing live
music, and visiting historic sites throughout the Maryland-Virginia-Washington  D.C. area.
